Sejal Shah, M.D.

Sejal K. Shah, M.D. is a general and cosmetic dermatologist in private practice in New York City who specializes in the treatment of acne. In particular, Dr. Shah has a special interest in treating the unique acne related skin concerns in darker skinned patients. Dr. Shah puts together a multifaceted plan when addressing acne in patients of color, including, African-Americans, Asians, Hispanic and Indian patients.

Dr. Shah received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York after graduating summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama. She first interned in internal medicine at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and later accomplished a two-year clinical research fellowship at the Skin of Color Center. She then completed her dermatology residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt where she served as chief resident during her senior year.

While completing her research fellowship and residency training, Dr. Shah published several articles, book chapters, and presented at numerous national and international meetings. Her focus of research includes skin of color, laser and light-based medicine, as well as cosmeceuticals.

Dr. Shah is a member of the following professional societies: American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, American Academy of Dermatology, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.
